"The Whispering Woods”.

There was an indescribable peace along that path, as if the world had decided to take a breath and fall silent, even if only for a moment. This forest, hidden in some remote corner of the Azores, felt like a place suspended between time and eternity. The mist, delicate and all-encompassing, seemed to whisper secrets as it drifted through the branches, and each ray of light that managed to pierce the dense canopy felt like a small miracle.

The path ahead was narrow and winding, like an invitation to lose myself in a space where the noise of daily life could not reach me. Ferns and moss covered every corner, spreading a carpet of green tones that, illuminated by the diffuse light, seemed to come alive with a gentle glow. It was as if nature wanted to wrap me up, reminding me that, despite everything, sanctuaries of tranquility still existed.

With each step, I felt more connected to the landscape, to its purity and its promise of stillness. There was no hurry, no final destination; the journey itself was the purpose. I could feel the roots of the trees beneath my feet, deep and strong, and I realized that the same sense of belonging and connection was also within me, waiting to be rediscovered. There, in the midst of that silence filled with life, I allowed myself to simply be.

As I continued walking, I realized that although the path might eventually come to an end, that sense of peace, of belonging, would stay with me forever.

"The Last Morning's Gaze”.

As 2022 was winding down, I got to see its final morning. It was in this interlude that I, a mere observer armed with my camera, stood witness to the dawning of this unparalleled daybreak. The golden hues that streaked across the sky were not just the day’s first light; they painted a silent ode to the year's collective moments — a year of ebbs and flows, of challenges faced and joys celebrated.

The camera, an extension of my intent, was ready to immortalize this significant dawn. The horizon, a canvas of possibilities, blushed with the early light, as if shy in revealing the day’s potential. Each wave that whispered to the shore spoke of the times that had washed over us, each one a memory, a lesson learned, or a triumph savored. The serenity of the sea, cradling the sun's ascent, was a mirror to the calmness I sought to capture and carry forward.

There I was, feet rooted in the sands of the passing year. This photograph, more than a testament to my journey as a photographer, is a narrative imbued with the depth of a year's last musings. It is a convergence of time and art, a dialogue between the universe's eternal rhythms and the human spirit's aspirations.
It was here, in the presence of the day's nascent light, that I found a silent affirmation of life's perpetual beginning, an affirmation I now extend to you through this visual chronicle of time’s relentless march.

"Sky’s Genesis”.

There’s something about the way the sky sets itself on fire before the world wakes up. Like it needs to break apart before it can start over. Like it has to burn through every shade of itself just to remember how to be whole again.

Maybe that’s what mornings are, proof that endings can look like beginnings. That sometimes, you have to fall apart before you find your way back.

Or maybe it’s just the sky, doing what it’s always done, without waiting for anyone to notice.

"Surge Eterna”.

There is something eternally hypnotic about the sea: the endless rhythm of waves that never seem to stop breathing, as if the ocean itself had a heart that beat in time with the universe. "Surge Eterna" is a tribute to that timeless motion.

I was in the Cabo de Gata Natural Park where I saw a wave that caught the light of the setting sun just right, reflecting hues of gold and dark indigo, while foam burst at the crest, a transient sculpture of pure white. For a moment, it seemed as though time stretched out infinitely, the wave caught in a perfect moment before surrendering itself back to the sea. This single moment encapsulated an eternal truth: that all things flow and return, that there is beauty in the eternal movement of life that we often overlook. Each wave, just like each moment of our lives, is both unique and fleeting, but also part of something much greater, an infinite cycle that doesn't need an ending to have meaning.

As I looked at "Surge Eterna" again, I was reminded that the ocean doesn't rest, doesn't tire, doesn't pause. It keeps surging forward, no matter what, a reminder for all of us to keep going, to flow despite obstacles, to find beauty even in moments that seem repetitive.

This piece is an invitation to feel that endless movement, to recognize that we are part of that same energy, and that even when we falter, we are still connected, still part of that eternal surge.

"Blossoming in Death”.

"Blossoming in Death" is a captivating expression of life and beauty that can emerge even in the most unexpected places. With this image I invite you to reflect on nature's ability to transform decay into renewal, reminding us that even in challenging times or adverse circumstances, life finds ways to bloom and rejuvenate.

The flowers grafted onto the branch of a dead tree show that life is resilient, and hope always finds a way to flourish. It is a reminder that, ultimately, life and beauty can be found in the most unsuspecting places, and the cycle of life continues, even in the midst of death.

Consider the duality of existence, where life and death are intertwined in an eternal dance. Just as the flowers emerge from the dead wood, we too can find the strength to overcome our trials and challenges, transforming adversity into opportunity and renewal.

"Blossoming in Death" is a reminder that beauty is everywhere, waiting to be discovered, and that even in the darkest moments, life persists, flourishes, and renews itself.

"Impermanence”.

Everything is permanently impermanent.

What exists today will not be tomorrow. Like shooting stars in the sky that vanish in an instant. Life comes and goes faster than lightning. When someone dear to us dies, our hearts bleed and pour out our anguish of pain without words. Remember that everything has to die eventually. The only constant in life is your fickleness. In time our existence could become a myth, as every sunrise follows a sunset and every birth leads to death.

Do not stubbornly cling to something in your arms. Instead, loosen your grip and let things flow. Each beautiful flower that blooms once fades with time and turns brown. If a leaf tenaciously clings to the branches when the autumn blasts hit, it falls off. If we lean on an impermanent thing, we fall with it when it falls. If we accept the change, we would go along with it instead of attaching it to the imaginary truth.

Step back, take a deep breath, observe your thoughts, accept the change, and let it go.

"Catharsis”.

As I walked through the forest, I couldn't help but be struck by the contrast between the dead trees and the alive ones. The dead trees, with their withered branches and gnarled trunks, seem to speak of a life fully lived and now come to an end. They are a reminder of the impermanence of life. But even in their death, the dead trees hold a certain beauty and majesty. Their twisted trunks and outstretched branches seem to reach toward the sky, as if in a final, poignant gesture. They are a testament to the struggles and triumphs of a life fully lived.

In contrast, the alive trees filled me with a sense of hope and renewal. Their leaves rustle in the breeze, their branches reaching toward the sun in a constant quest for light and nourishment. They are a symbol of life and growth.

As I walked among the dead and alive trees, I couldn't help but feel a sense of catharsis. It allowed me to release and express my emotions, and to find a sense of renewal and hope in the face of the impermanence of life. It was a reminder and a testament to the beauty and majesty of the natural world.

"A Match Made in Heaven”.

Perhaps, the sea also makes us dream because it always invites us to look up the horizon and, only the one who saw the storm broke up and was there when it erupted, could say how intensively it was lived. It is in these moments of tender and ridiculous nostalgia that you realize everyone has an ocean to fly, if they have the soul to do it.
